Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of Knotpad, provided by Nexstrive Services. Last updated 18 October 2026.
Using Knotpad
You may use Knotpad for personal or business work, in line with these terms and the law. Knotpad is in beta: features can change, and you may run into bugs. Please keep your own backup of anything important (you can export your notes at any time) and tell us about problems through Feedback in the app.
Your account and content
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for activity in your account and workspaces.
- Team owners decide who has access to their workspace.
- Your notes and files remain yours. We use them only to provide the service.
Plans and billing
- The desktop app is free. Cloud features need Personal Pro or Team Pro.
- Team Pro is billed per seat, from 2 to 50 seats.
- Paid plans renew automatically each billing period. You can change or cancel at any time in your account.
- Plans are billed in advance. If you are not happy, ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first payment.
Free trial
New accounts can try Personal Pro free for 14 days, once per account. No card is needed and nothing is charged during the trial. If you add a card, your plan starts when the trial ends. If you do not, the trial ends without charge.
When a subscription or trial ends
- Your cloud workspace becomes read-only. The desktop app keeps working with your notes on your computer.
- We remove the cloud copy after a grace period: 5 days for Personal Pro, 14 days for Team Pro and for trials.
- Before that, we email you a copy of your notes, or a link to download it from your account if it is too large to attach.
- Renew before the grace period ends to keep your cloud workspace.
Fair use and limits
To keep Knotpad fast and reliable for everyone, we measure usage and apply these limits:
- File storage: 10 GB per seat, up to 10 MB per file. Video files are not supported.
- Notes: up to 1,000,000 characters each.
- Calendar subscriptions: up to 5.
- Requests: AI assistants can make up to 120 requests a minute. Sign-in, sign-up and similar actions are also limited to block abuse.
If you reach a limit, the request is refused until the next minute or until you free up space. We may contact you, or restrict an account, if its use harms the service for others.
Acceptable use
Do not use Knotpad to break the law, infringe others' rights, spread malware, or disrupt or probe the service.
AI assistants and other tools
Knotpad lets you connect AI assistants and other tools to your workspace, including through the Model Context Protocol. You decide what they can access, and you are responsible for what they do. Knotpad does not run AI models itself, and we are not responsible for data loss or other issues caused by a tool you connect.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
No warranty
Knotpad is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Nexstrive is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Knotpad.
Changes
We may update these terms. When a change matters, we will ask you to review and accept it again in the app. The date at the top shows the current version.
