Knotpad is a project workspace for people who work with AI assistants. It keeps the project brief, tracked tasks, decisions and results in one place, so you and a connected assistant can pick up from the work you recorded instead of explaining the project again. Knotpad is made by Nexstrive Services in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
What it does
- Checkbox lines in your notes become tracked tasks, shown on a board, list, calendar or graph.
- A compatible AI client connects through MCP to read the saved context, claim tasks and update them.
- Decisions, results and Mermaid diagrams stay beside the brief, where the next person or assistant can find them.
Your chosen assistant does the work. Knotpad holds the project context and tracked tasks it reads and updates. The guides show each step with an example project.
How it is sold
- Personal Free: the Windows desktop app with local notes, tasks, views, local MCP and task claiming. No account or card required. The main download is the Microsoft Store. Other packages are listed as Experimental builds on the download page.
- Personal Pro: $9 a month or $90 a year. Use Knotpad in your browser on Mac or Windows, with cloud sync and remote MCP so claude.ai and ChatGPT can read and update your project. Start with a 14-day free trial, no card required.
- Team Pro: $12 per seat a month or $120 per seat a year, with a minimum of 2 seats. Adds a shared team workspace with remote MCP for the team.
Prices are in US dollars. Your chosen AI service is separate from your Knotpad plan. See pricing for what each plan includes.
Your data
- The desktop app stores your notes, tasks and settings on your computer. A free local workspace does not need an account.
- If you turn on cloud sync, your data is sent over an encrypted connection and stored encrypted at rest on Knotpad's cloud servers.
- The desktop app sends an anonymous usage heartbeat with a random device ID. It is never linked to your name, email, account or workspace, and it does not include your notes or tasks. You can turn it off in Settings, under Privacy & Security.
- You choose what gets saved to the workspace. Private chats stay in your AI service.
- Knotpad does not sell your data.
